Kevin Tucker, Journalist

Kevin, originally from Norfolk, VA, grew up across the street from Norfolk State University. “I could literally hear fifth quarters from my front porch and that’s what really got me into the culture.” Kevin marched with the Virginia State Marching Trojan Explosion from Fall 2011 to Fall 2014 where he played alto saxophone. He was Section Leader for three of those four seasons. Kevin joined Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, Incorporated in Spring 2012 and later became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated in Spring 2014.

In 2015, Kevin received a degree in Communications from Virginia State. He then went on to work for the CBS affiliate network in the Norfolk, VA area. “I served that station for five years. Throughout that time, I started out as a production technician, and worked my way to an Associate Producer before becoming a Producer”, Kevin said. He has covered many stories in the area to include the Virginia Beach Mass Shooting and the Gov. Ralph Northam scandal.

Kevin currently serves as Senior Communication Specialist with Cox Communication with a focus on internal communications throughout the Virginia region. He also maintains the company’s positive image among its employees.

“I look forward to bringing my 10+ years of communications experience to Meet Me On The 50 and use it to push the HBCU band culture to places it’s never been.”
